Polba Sports Academy

Polba Sports Academy was conceived through the first ever meeting held in July 2014. Its primary purpose was to develop a sporting culture among the local youth. The Academy began to function through imparting training in volleyball, football and yoga. Other than these, from its very inception, the Academy has always organized an annual blood donation camp. The Academy has also conducted other programs of social development like afforestation, social plantation. The Academy regularly conducts several awareness programs on issues of social and national interest. 

In 2015, we conducted a significant relief collection drive following the devastating earthquake in Nepal. In 2016, under the Yuvakaran of Polba-Dadpur block, the Khelo India event of the

The Honorable Government of India was also held in association with Polba Sports Academy at its premises. In 2017, Polba Sports Academy organized the State Sub Junior (Boys and Girls) Volleyball meet in 2017 under the supervision of West Bengal Volleyball Association. Participants from seventeen districts of the state of West Bengal attended the said event. In 2020, in the context of the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Academy organized a monetary donation to the Covid relief fund under Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal. Other than that, the Academy also organized for distribution of food and other essential material among the needy families of the area during the lockdown situation. 

From 2014 onwards, the Academy has conducted daily training sessions everyday at the premises for volleyball and other physical exercises. Almost 150 children (boys & girls) from SC-ST (socially and economically backward) background have been trained. Some of our trainees have been successful at the national level of volleyball. In previous years, six of our players have found employment in WestBengal Police due to their sporting talent. Some have also participated in All India National University Games. Our relentless endeavor is to develop skills, empower and enhance the employability of these youth from SC-ST, socially, economically backward background. Other than sports related activities, the Academy has also conducted several training camps and workshops in association with various organizations to develop the life skills and employability of our young trainees.

Our mission is to develop a healthy culture of sports among the youth, particularly in volleyball. To identify and develop talents to represent the Nation in sports.To create gender equal environment through exposure to sporting culture.

Vision:

Polba Sports Academy believes that this constant endeavor will result in an all round development of the locality, which is a SC-ST integrated area that comprises a considerable section of population from marginalized and backward sections of the society. Our Vision is to pursue the fundamental objective of strengthening the entire sports ecosystem of the entire locality and adjoining areas to promote the twin subsidiary objectives of mass participation and promotion of excellence in sports across the country

Objective:

  •  To popularize sports as a medium to promote social upliftment.
  •  Create a disciplined, skilled and productive youth resource for the Nation.
  • To ensure development of the locality that has a considerable SC-ST population belonging to both socially and economically marginalized sections of the society.
  •  To develop a general awareness and progressive approach in the locality through various socially inclined works.
